This lot features a modern hinged-lid storage chest, also known as a blanket chest, constructed from manufactured board with a mahogany-effect wood veneer finish. The design follows a traditional style, with the front face featuring a single recessed panel with decorative moulded corner details, all resting on a simple plinth base. The lid is secured with internal metal hinges. There are no visible maker’s marks or labels on the chest.
The interior contains a collection of festive items including a large standing Santa Claus figurine on a circular wooden base, a boxed Tree Top Santa by Premier, and a large red cylindrical storage tube modelled after a British pillar box, featuring the E II R Royal Cypher and a Merry Christmas label. Additionally, the chest holds a quantity of artificial floral decorations including red and white poinsettias and pine cones, several rolls of Christmas wrapping paper, a sheet of gift tags, and various smaller festive ornaments and baubles.
