A Victorian circular openwork cast iron decorative dish or charger, manufactured by the Coalbrookdale Company. The piece features an intricate pierced design with a central fluted medallion surrounded by a border of thistles and pinecones. The main body is divided into four kite-shaped panels: one depicting two hippocampi flanking a trident, and others featuring putti or cherubs amidst foliate scrolls. The outer rim consists of a wide border of scrolling acanthus leaves and floral motifs. The cast iron has a silvered or pewter-effect finish. The reverse is stamped with a central circular mark reading COALBROOKDALE.
