This set of tea and coffee wares is produced by S. Fielding and Co. Ltd. at the Devon Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, England. The collection is part of the Silverine range, which utilises a decorative ceramic technique where a highly reflective silver-lustre glaze is applied to an earthenware body to imitate the appearance of solid silver. The set comprises a teapot with a hinged lid and composite finial, a tall hot water or coffee jug with a hinged lid, a twin-handled open sugar bowl, and a cream jug. The pieces are designed in a traditional Georgian style, featuring gadrooned ribbed detailing to the lower portion of the bodies and high-arched handles. The handles and finials are constructed from a dark, heat-resistant composite material. The interiors of the vessels are finished in a contrasting cream-coloured glaze. The base of the items bears a pink printed mark with a central crown emblem, reading DEVON SILVERINE, FIELDING’S, STOKE ON TRENT, and MADE IN ENGLAND. There are also hand-painted characters in black ink reading 2/132 and 0690.
