This is a collection of approximately 37 volumes of The Fireside Book of David Hope, published by D.C. Thomson and Co. Ltd (The People’s Friend). David Hope was a house pseudonym for various editors and writers of these annual compilations of verse and prose. The collection spans approximately four decades, with visible dates including 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. One volume features a bridge illustration with an unreadable or missing date on the spine. The books are hardcover with pictorial boards depicting various landscape and nature scenes. The 2005 edition is still enclosed in its original clear plastic shrinkwrap. The entire set is presented in a green cardboard tray.
