A mid-century modern ceramic tea and coffee service produced by Poole Pottery, England. This 18 piece collection is crafted from earthenware and features the manufacturer’s characteristic Twintone two-tone glazed finish. The pattern is identified as Sky Blue and Dove Grey (C57), featuring a pale grey exterior contrasted by a vibrant turquoise-blue interior on the hollowware and solid blue saucers.
The service comprises two tall tapered coffee or hot water pots with high-arched handles and blue-topped lids, one rounded teapot with a contrasting light green and grey lid, one lidded sugar bowl with a blue lid, one milk jug with a blue interior, one small open sugar or slop bowl with a blue interior, six teacups with blue interiors, and six matching blue saucers.
The base of the pieces features a black printed backstamp consisting of an oval border containing a stylised dolphin logo in the centre. To the left of the dolphin is the name POOLE and to the right is the text ENGLAND EST. 1873. The set displays the minimalist silhouettes typical of British mid-century ceramic design.
