A relief-moulded earthenware vessel of lentoid form, designed as a reproduction of a Roman gladiator flask or ampulla. The body features a matte, brownish-tan slip finish to create a patinated appearance. The central circular panel contains a moulded relief scene depicting gladiatorial combat, commonly referred to as a Ludi Gladiatori scene. The scene shows a standing figure wearing a crested helmet and carrying a large circular shield, positioned over a fallen figure. This central decoration is framed by a border of repeating scale and dot motifs. The vessel includes a narrow neck with a wide, flat rim and four small, curved loop handles or supports spaced around the circumference. No maker marks or factory stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Length: 19 cm.
