A pair of rectangular Persian decorative boxes featuring traditional craftsmanship. The exterior sides of each box are decorated with Khatam-kari, a traditional Persian marquetry technique involving the micro-inlay of fine rods of wood, bone, and brass to create dense, star-shaped geometric patterns. The lids feature hand-painted miniatures in the Persian style, depicting Chovgan, the traditional game of polo. The scenes show figures on horseback in a landscape setting, dressed in traditional attire and holding polo sticks, set against a pale, bone-coloured ground. One box is lined with red velvet, while the other features a plain, light-coloured wood interior. The underside of one lid contains the handwritten Persian numerals ٩٣, corresponding to 93.
