A Russian lacquer box from the Fedoskino school, constructed from papier-mache with a black lacquered exterior and a red lacquered interior. The oval lid is decorated with an oil painting depicting a portrait of a young woman with auburn hair and a floral hairpiece. The painting is framed by a hand-painted gilt foliate border, which is also present around the edge of the base. The lid features red Cyrillic inscriptions: Борисовой (transliterated: Borisovoy) on the left and Федоскино 96 (transliterated: Fedoskino 96) on the right, indicating the artist and the year of production.
