An Italian Sorrento-style marquetry sewing or jewellery box table, likely dating from the mid-20th century. The rectangular hinged top is decorated with elaborate wood inlay featuring a central ornate medallion surrounded by scrolling foliate and floral designs in various contrasting veneers, including olive wood and boxwood. The top opens to reveal a red velvet-lined interior partitioned into four sections. The underside of the lid is finished with a high-gloss polished veneer. The piece is supported by four slender, tapering cabriole legs.
