A large 19th century style mantel clock featuring a heavily decorated gilded brass case of architectural form. The case is designed in a Neo-Renaissance or Rococo Revival style, ornamented with scrolling acanthus leaves, lion masks, and pierced scale-patterned sound frets to the side panels. The domed top is surmounted by a cast finial depicting a seated cherub or putto. The white enamel dial features black Arabic numerals and blued steel hands, with two winding holes positioned for the eight-day movement. The internal mechanical movement is equipped with a platform lever escapement and a striking mechanism that strikes on a circular spiral gong. No maker marks are visible on the movement backplate or the case.
