A novelty claret jug or decanter in the form of a bird, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The vessel comprises a hand-blown green glass body with internal air bubbles and an applied clear glass handle. The neck and hinged lid are made of silver-plated metal, with the lid realistically modelled as a bird’s head featuring chased feather detailing. The collar on the neck is stamped with pseudo-hallmarks including a gothic-style letter G, the letters EPNS, a crown, and a heraldic shield, identifying the metal as electro-plated nickel silver.
