A Victorian-style decorative chimney flue cover featuring a circular lithographic portrait of a young girl with blonde ringlets, a blue hair bow, and a pearl necklace. The portrait is set behind a glass panel which is decorated with a raised, scrolling black border, likely composed of a composition material or thick paint. The assembly is mounted onto a square, dark-stained wooden backing and secured with metal clips. The reverse features a single metal hanging bracket at one corner, designed for display in a diamond orientation. These items were traditionally used to cover stovepipe openings in chimneys when the stoves were removed during the summer months. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
Wooden panel: approximately 21 cm (8.25 inches) square.
