A vintage Italian octagonal trinket box, crafted from a brass-toned metal alloy with a hinged lid. The lid is decorated with a symmetrical foliate and scrollwork design using the champlevé enamel technique, featuring cobalt blue enamel recessed into the metal ground. The form and decorative scheme are reminiscent of traditional miniature Quran cases. The side panels of the box are further embellished with chased or stamped floral and scroll motifs. The interior reveals the natural aged patina of the base metal and bears a stamped origin mark on the interior base consisting of two lines of text: MADE ITALY.
