A rectangular Chinese architectural or furniture panel of hand-carved wood construction featuring openwork relief, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The central recessed area contains four figures in dynamic poses wearing traditional Chinese dress, potentially depicting acrobats or narrative characters. These figures are decorated with gold gilding and red polychrome accents, set against a background of pierced quatrefoil motifs. The outer raised border is finished in a dark red lacquer. The reverse of the panel exhibits a weathered surface with remnants of red finish and several small bored holes.
