A Staffordshire earthenware vase of double-gourd form, featuring a bulbous lower body and a smaller bulbous neck terminating in a slightly flared rim. The exterior is decorated in the Ye Old Dresden pattern, a dense chintz-style floral design. The motif comprises large multi-coloured blossoms in shades of red, yellow, and purple, interspersed with blue forget-me-nots and green foliage. This is set against a background consisting of a fine, repetitive green and white floral lattice. The decoration is achieved through a combination of transfer-printing and hand-painted overglaze highlights. The base bears a green transfer-printed maker’s mark consisting of a female figure standing beside a structure, with the text ENGLAND above the words DEAN’S, BURSLEM, YE OLD, and DRESDEN.
