A decorative ceramic lidded jar of globular, low-shouldered form with a short neck and a flush-fitting domed cover. The exterior is elaborately decorated with a repeating pattern of overlapping scalloped panels in a fish-scale arrangement. Each panel features a cream-coloured ground with an overall crackle glaze, centering a stylized dark brown four-pointed foliate motif. The panels are defined by thick borders of terracotta-orange and dark brown, accented with raised white enamel dots at the points of intersection. The interior rim of the jar and the inner lip of the lid are finished with a smooth, solid tan-brown glaze. The decorative scheme and use of raised enamel work are characteristic of Moroccan Safi pottery. No maker’s marks, signatures, or backstamps are visible on the exterior or interior rim.
