A pair of Anglo-Indian? occasional side tables constructed from carved hardwood, possibly teak? or rosewood?. Each table features a detachable octagonal top with a central circular panel. The centres are decorated with a foliate inlay of bone? or mother-of-pearl? depicting a central flower surrounded by a spray of leaves. This central motif is framed by concentric bands of relief carving showing floral and foliate patterns, leading to a wide outer border of deeply pierced scrolling leaf work. Each top rests upon a three-part folding tripod base in the X-form style. The legs are heavily decorated with corresponding pierced foliate fretwork and terminate in shaped feet. Metal hinges are attached to the interior of the folding base sections to facilitate collapse for storage. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible.
