A large Italian bisque porcelain figurine of a ballerina, likely the Giselle model, depicted in a classical pose with arms raised. The figure is rendered in unglazed bisque porcelain with a bodice featuring a yellow and gold mottled pattern and a highly textured, cream-coloured tutu. The ballerina stands on a circular porcelain base featuring stylized swan motifs which support her legs, all mounted upon a square dark wood plinth. The porcelain base bears a blue printed mark of a crown over a capital letter ‘N’, alongside an incised signature reading ‘Giuseppe Armani’. An oval gold foil label is affixed to the wooden base and reads ‘1973 f FLORENCE GIUSEPPE ARMANI’.
Height: Approximately 48 cm.
