A collection of graduated earthenware Toby jugs manufactured by Wood & Sons. Each vessel is modelled as a traditional seated figure in 18th-century attire, wearing a black tricorn hat which forms the rim and spout, a maroon coat, yellow waistcoat with gold-toned buttons, and green breeches. The figures are depicted holding a frothing mug of ale and a white pipe, with a curved handle attached to the reverse. The jugs are decorated with hand-painted overglaze colours beneath a high-gloss finish. The base of the largest jug is printed in black with “TOBY” by a lion rampant device and the text WOOD & SONS ENGLAND. The underside also features an incised character, likely a W.
