A Victorian style folk art walking stick featuring a hand-carved shaft. The stick is constructed from a single piece of hardwood, finished in a warm reddish-brown stain, and is carved into a continuous open-twist or barley-twist spiral along its full length. The handle consists of a bulbous, rounded wooden knob finished in a dark, near-black stain. A decorative metallic collar with a patterned gilt-metal effect is positioned below the handle. The stick terminates in a simple brass ferrule at the tip. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the item.
Length: 93 cm.
