A pair of original landscape watercolours on paper depicting European architectural scenes. The first work is a vertical composition showing a medieval fortified keep or castle situated on a verdant rocky outcrop above a railway or path tunnel. It is executed in a delicate illustrative style using washes of green, ochre, and blue. The second, a horizontal landscape, depicts a coastal or riverside town with a row of diverse houses featuring pitched roofs and a quay with several small boats and figures. This work is signed P. Gosselin 72 in the lower right corner. Both pieces are presented behind glass with cream-coloured mounts. The vertical painting is housed in a silvered-effect frame with a verso adhesive label for EINRAHMUNGEN MARCEL HEITZMANN BASEL – SPALENBERG 38, bearing the reference 24215. The horizontal work is set in a thin gilt-effect frame.
