An Edwardian? style leaded stained glass panel of rectangular form, possibly salvaged from a public house or commercial premises. The central feature is a white opalescent glass oval bearing the kiln-fired inscription GENTLEMEN’S TOILET in a deep red-brown serif typeface. The surrounding decorative scheme is rendered in an Art Nouveau aesthetic, composed of textured amber cathedral glass borders and olive green foliate motifs. Each corner is set with a four-petalled quatrefoil flower in green glass. The panel is constructed using traditional lead came techniques, with varied glass textures including smooth opalescent and rippled cathedral glass. The reverse of the panel shows a cardboard backing with printed manufacturing text including ‘Made in China’ and a recycling symbol, which pertains to the packaging materials rather than the glass itself.
