A collection of white metal crowns issued for the Festival of Britain in 1951. Each George VI five shilling piece is housed in its original card presentation box, including four examples in textured dark green and one rarer example in maroon. The lids of the green boxes are gold-stamped with a central crest flanked by the text FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN 1951 and ROYAL MINT below. Also included is a Gibraltar twenty-five pence commemorative coin, struck in white metal and housed in a blue plastic case. The coin case is marked GIBRALTAR 1952 1977 and TWENTY FIVE PENCE. The reverse of the Gibraltar coin features the coat of arms of Gibraltar, comprising a three-towered castle with a key, surrounded by a wreath. The 1951 crowns were struck at the Royal Mint to commemorate the centenary of the Great Exhibition.
