A black phenolic / bakelite resin? tabletop rotary dial telephone, likely a GPO 232 model. The instrument features a classic pyramid-shaped body with a matching handset resting on a cradle. The handset handle is moulded with a central oval mark containing the stylized letters G P O, alongside smaller, partially legible characters below. The telephone is equipped with a metal finger wheel rotary dial featuring a chrome effect finish; the dial plate displays alphanumeric characters with letters A-Z in black and numbers 1-0 in red. The centre of the dial contains an empty circular aperture intended for a dial label. The unit retains its original brown braided fabric-covered handset and line cords, the latter terminating in a rectangular black phenolic / bakelite resin? terminal block. The handset earpiece and mouthpiece are of standard screw-on construction.
