A group of Studio Ware earthenware ceramics produced by J. & G. Meakin, Hanley. The set features a two-tone decorative scheme comprising a terracotta-brown gloss glaze to the exteriors and a pale duck-egg blue glaze to the interiors. The collection includes a low, streamlined teardrop-shaped teapot in solid blue; a tall, tapered coffee pot or teapot in brown with a blue lid; a small cream jug; a handleless sugar bowl; and six rounded cups with five matching saucers. The base of the blue teapot features a black underglaze printed mark consisting of a stylized artist’s palette with three brushes, the word STUDIO in a curved font, and WARE BY J. & G. MEAKIN ENGLAND. The ceramic bodies exhibit significant peppering or dark pitting within the glaze, particularly to the saucers and cup interiors.
