A trio of novelty earthenware teapots featuring architectural and character themes. The central teapot is of rectangular form with a flared foot and a square lid topped by a lobed, gilt-accented finial. The front panel is decorated with a transfer-printed scene of Belle and the Beast dancing, featuring characters Cogsworth, Lumiere, and Mrs. Potts. The text Beauty and the Beast is printed in red script, and the base of the scene bears the printed mark Disneyland PARIS. The shoulders and lid are finished with pink rose motifs, blue swags, and gilt metal effect accents to the spout and handle. Two further teapots are modelled as buildings, featuring white bodies and transfer-printed decoration. One is shaped as a two-storey storefront with a green scalloped roof lid, featuring signs for a FISH AND CHIP SHOP and the date 1881. The base edge bears the printed text a chip shop teapot. The third teapot is of octagonal form, modelled as a conservatory or greenhouse with a faceted lid. The panels depict plants and figures through windows, and the base edge is printed with conservatory teapot. The building-themed teapots are likely from the Wade English Life series designed by Barry Smith?.
