A large-scale scratch-built model of a sailing ship’s hull, representing a 17th or 18th-century vessel in the plank-on-frame construction style. The model is built using various hardwoods, featuring a substantial keel, stem, and sternpost with a full set of transverse frames or ribs, likely crafted from mahogany? or a similar dark hardwood. The lower portion of the hull shows partial planking with thin wooden strips, secured with visible small brass or copper pins. The internal construction reveals floor timbers and framing, with several longitudinal wales temporarily fixed to maintain alignment. The hull is currently mounted upon a custom functional wooden building jig with adjustable supports. The support cradle features handwritten pencil markings, with the left support inscribed STARBD and the right support inscribed LARBD, an archaic maritime term for Port.
Length: Approximately 106.5 cm.
