A late Victorian? or Edwardian? long rope twist chain constructed from yellow gold links. The piece is formed of multiple interlocking circular links, tightly intertwined to create a continuous spiralling rope texture. The chain features a reddish-gold hue at the joints, characteristic of antique gold-cased or high-carat construction. One end terminates in two small jump rings, one of which is a flattened oval link bearing several struck hallmarks or maker’s marks; however, these indentations are heavily worn and are not legible as specific characters or symbols. The chain is of a substantial length, suitable for use as a double-wrapped necklace or a traditional muff chain.
