A mid-20th-century Swiss gentleman’s wristwatch by Cauny, featuring a circular gold-plated case with a stainless steel case back. The sunburst silvered dial is set with applied gold-toned Arabic numerals at the even hours and baton indices at the odd hours, complemented by a sub-seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position and dauphine hands. The dial is printed with the manufacturer’s name CAUNY above SWISS PRIMA and 17 RUBIS below the centre. The case back is struck with a central coat of arms device containing the name CAUNY and PRIMA, surrounded by the French and English inscriptions FOND ACIER INOXYDABLE – LUNETTE-CARRURE PLAQUE OR G. 10 MICRONS – SWISS MADE. The reference numbers 315-462 and 290 are stamped to the centre. The watch is fitted with an expandable metal link bracelet featuring gold-toned caps over a white metal inner structure. It houses a 17-jewel manual wind mechanical movement.
