A Victorian sterling silver open-face pocket watch featuring a key-wind movement. The engine-turned silver case is designed with a ribbed edge and a plain circular cartouche to the reverse. The white enamel dial is set with black Roman numeral hour markers, a rail-track minute ring, and a subsidiary seconds dial positioned at the 9 o’clock mark. The dial is fitted with gold-toned spade hands. The movement is gilt-finished with blued steel screws and is engraved with the manufacturer’s details VICTORIA WALTHAM, MASS., alongside the serial number 2599853 and the text SAFETY PINION. A logo consisting of the letters J & Co in a diamond above a small L is also present. The interior of the case back is struck with British hallmarks including an anchor assay mark for Birmingham, a walking lion passant for sterling silver, and a lowercase date letter m? or n?. A maker’s mark consisting of the initials A B is stamped within a rectangular shield, accompanied by the numbers 8 2. The watch is accompanied by a brass-toned winding key.
