A nursing and midwifery brooch of oval, openwork form for the Sheffield North Trent College of Nursing & Midwifery. The central design features a stylized teal and green enamelled ‘N’ or ribbon motif, set against a two-tone green and cream enamelled ground. The white metal frame is inscribed with the institution’s name, Sheffield North Trent College of Nursing & Midwifery, in recessed lettering. The badge is fitted with a horizontal pin and C-clasp to the reverse and is accompanied by a silver? safety chain of circular link construction. The chain is fitted with a lobster claw clasp and a teardrop-shaped end tab which is stamped with the numerical mark 925, indicating it is likely sterling silver. A further, smaller hallmark is present on the reverse of the clasp tab but is not legible as a specific mark. The brooch itself bears no visible assay marks.
