A pair of hand-carved wooden sculptures depicting seated water buffalo, designed as functional bookends. Each figure is rendered in a folk-art style from a medium-toned hardwood, featuring the characteristic curved horns and simplified facial features of the species. The buffalo are positioned in a crouching or reclining posture atop integral rectangular plinths. These bases are heavily decorated with deeply incised geometric and floral repeating patterns to three sides. The wood exhibits a visible grain and has been finished with a polished wax or lacquer. There are no maker marks or signatures present on the exterior surfaces.
