A pair of brass fireplace fenders featuring an adjustable telescopic design. Each fender is constructed from L-shaped corner sections and straight rails that slide together to accommodate various hearth widths. The decorative gallery is composed of vertical posts supporting horizontal rails with a barley twist or rope effect, terminalled with spherical brass finials. The base rails are formed from rolled brass over a weighted structure, finished with a flared moulding. The inner surfaces of the side rails are finished in a matt black coating. A small white adhesive label is present on one rail bearing the hand-written number 4854.
