A British military electrical testing galvanometer of square form, housed in a mahogany case. The instrument features a circular brass-rimmed glass face protecting a central needle and a brass dial plate. The dial is graduated at the upper arc from 0 to 70 in both directions and is marked with the British Broad Arrow (Pheon) military mark, alongside the text DETECTOR Q & I T.P. (WA0275), W. E. M. Co. LTD., No 4807, and the date 1942. The left side of the case is fitted with two large brass knurled screw terminals, a black insulated terminal, and a brass carrying ring. A further Broad Arrow mark is stamped into the wood near the terminals. The reverse of the case features a removable panel with a brass warning plate reading THE INSULATED ‘Q’ TERMINAL MUST NOT BE USED FOR TESTING ELECTRIC FIRING CIRCUITS WHICH INCLUDE ELECTRICAL FIRING HEADS OR DETONATORS. The instrument measures 5″ high.
