A large earthenware charger of shallow, circular form, featuring a hand-painted nautical scene. the interior is finished in a white tin-glaze ground, decorated centrally with a multi-masted sailing ship or galleon. The vessel is rendered with a pink hull, grey sails, and yellow masts, set against stylized green waves and flanked by small birds in flight. The wide rim is decorated with a repeating border of alternating pink and green sponged rectangles between concentric yellow lines. The reverse and base are finished in a translucent brown honey-glaze. The base features an impressed rectangular mark containing a cross and a stylized wheat stalk, flanked by the words ABBAYE and DU BEC.
