A George V sterling silver hip flask of rectangular, slightly curved form designed to fit the pocket. The vessel features hand-engraved foliate scrollwork decoration to two corners and is fitted with a knurled screw-top lid. The upper body bears a series of struck hallmarks including a lion passant, a Sheffield York Rose assay mark, and the maker’s mark B&S in a rectangular shield around a central flourish, likely for Barbour & Sons?. A date letter p is also present, corresponding to 1916. Accompanying the flask is a set of four white metal nesting travel beakers. The beakers are housed within a cylindrical tan leather case featuring a press-stud closure. The leather case is impressed with the text REAL HIDE and MADE IN ENGLAND in block capitals.
