A large-scale architectural salvage piece of wrought iron hardware, likely a component for a horse-drawn vehicle such as a heavy cart or wagon shaft support. The item is hand-forged in a tall U-shaped frame that tapers towards the top to meet a central vertical post. This post terminates in a heavy-duty, double-bolted clevis hitch for attachment to a vehicle frame or pole. The curved body features two integrated circular rein-guide rings, or terrets, welded to the outer sides. The base of each vertical arm is finished with forged hook and link assemblies for connection to a singletree or harness. The ironwork shows a dark patinated finish throughout.
