A vintage cast brass nutcracker in the form of a stylized crocodile. The piece is constructed from solid metal with a polished yellow-gold finish and features a hinged upper jaw that functions as a lever mechanism for cracking nuts. The exterior surface is detailed with rows of raised, rounded nodules to simulate the scaled texture of reptilian skin, particularly across the back and tail. It is supported by four integrated, stubby legs which provide a stable base for operation. The recessed areas of the casting exhibit significant natural oxidation and verdigris, providing a dark contrast to the polished highlights. The pivot is secured with a hand-finished hinge pin. There are no legible maker’s marks or signatures present on the exterior surfaces.
Length: Approximately 35.5 cm.
