A collection of hardcover volumes focused on railway technology and local history of the North of England. The group is led by a large folio edition of Locomotive Engineering and the Mechanism of Railways, Volume II—Plates, bound in brown cloth and featuring numerous technical diagrams and illustrations. Included is a burgundy cloth quarto edition of the Railway Clearing House Official Hand-Book of Railway Stations &c., providing a comprehensive directory of the Victorian rail network. The topographical works comprise A Thousand Miles in Wharfedale by Edmund Bogg, bound in dark blue decorative cloth with gilt titles, and a smaller leather-bound octavo volume titled Dr. Miller’s History of Doncaster, which features a black and gilt decorated spine. A further modern volume in plain blue cloth is also present. The volumes exhibit varying degrees of historical wear associated with their age and technical subject matter.
