A collection of incandescent light bulbs manufactured by The Edison Swan Electric Co. Ltd. The assortment is housed within its original cardboard storage container and individual protective paper wrappers. The printed wrappers feature red and black text including ROYAL ‘EDISWAN’ LAMP and the company address at 155, Charing Cross Rd. London W.C.2. A specific wrapper is stamped Part No. 25114 BULB S.B.C. indicating a small bayonet cap fitting. The packaging includes a printed wartime notice regarding a paper shortage, requesting that the wrapper should be handed to the local authority or organization responsible for salvaging paper. The bulbs themselves are constructed with glass envelopes, including clear and dark-toned examples, mounted to white metal bayonet bases. The set remains in its primary corrugated cardboard box which displays significant age-related degradation.
