A matching two-piece ceramic wash set manufactured from glazed earthenware. The lot comprises a wide, circular wash basin with a scalloped rim and a deep chamber pot featuring a single scrolled handle and a coordinating scalloped edge. The set is decorated in the Athole pattern, a multi-coloured floral transfer design featuring swags of pink roses and small blue flowers tied with ribbons, set against a dense blue geometric dot and cross ground. A dark blue scrolled border with a scalloped edge runs along the interior and exterior rims. The rims and borders further feature gilt metal effect lining. The base of the basin bears a black printed backstamp consisting of a crown above the script Losol Ware and the pattern name ATHOLE, with the maker Keeling & Co. Ltd, Burslem, England printed to the right.
