A vintage industrial fire safety kit produced by Antifyre Ltd of Shaftesbury Road, Acton, London. The set is housed in a rectangular red-painted metal carrying case with a hinged lid. The kit includes a pistol-style discharge applicator with a cast metal body and a black-finished grip. The circular metal plate on the applicator is printed with instructions reading PULL LEVER – AIM LOW – THEN FIRE (GRIP FIRE & COUNT TWO) ANTIFYRE LTD SHAFTESBURY ROAD, ACTON, LONDON, W.3. PATENT. Accompanying the applicator are three cylindrical metal recharge canisters, each finished in red paint with a yellow and black printed label stating RECHARGE FOR MODEL III ANTIFYRE PISTOLE EXTINGUISHER SEE DIRECTIONS ON EXTINGUISHER. The interior of the lid features a riveted white metal instruction plate titled DIRECTIONS FOR USE OF ANTIFYRE PISTOLE EXTINGUISHER MODEL III. The plate provides detailed operating procedures under headings including COCK, TO USE, AIM BELOW BASE OF FIRE, TO CHANGE CYLINDER, and NOTE. The equipment is a notable example of mid-20th-century British fire protection design.
