A mid-20th-century wall-mounted sculpture or wall mask of a stylized Black woman. The figure is depicted from the bust up, cradling an infant in one arm and an ornamental vessel in the other. The piece is constructed from a moulded ceramic? or plaster material with a high-gloss black finish. Decorative details include a textured coiffure secured with a gold-toned band, red-painted lips, and circular brass-toned wire hoop earrings. The woman is draped in a garment featuring a white polka-dot pattern on a black ground, while the vessel is embellished with a white chevron motif and red accents. The reverse of the mask typically contains a recessed hanging point or wire for wall mounting.
