An early 20th-century industrial time recording clock of rectangular form, constructed from heavy-gauge steel? or cast iron? with a dark grey and black patinated finish. The housing features decorative orange-painted scrolls to the side panels and a moulded front frame. The top of the unit is fitted with a spring-loaded vertical plunger with a mushroom-shaped cap and a horizontal brass sliding card guide with a notched scale. A large, black-painted metal cowl or hood is mounted above the stamping mechanism. The clock face is set within a circular metal bezel, featuring a cream dial with Arabic numerals and two hands. The dial bears a printed inscription below the twelve o’clock position reading TIME RECORDERS, and LONDON in a smaller arc below. The central manufacturer’s name is present but largely illegible due to surface discolouration. The unit is accompanied by a brass winding key and a smaller barrel-style cabinet key attached by a metal ring.
