Sold for: £380
A 9 carat yellow gold double-sided fob pendant of oval form. The central mount is inset with two cabochon hardstones?: one a translucent deep green chalcedony? and the reverse a banded agate? showing layers of reddish-brown, white, and translucent grey. The stones are held in a wide, polished gold frame that swivels between a decorative foliate yoke. The yoke is embellished with scrolled motifs and is suspended from a large, patterned bail for a chain. The side of the swivel mount is impressed with a crown standard mark, the millesimal fineness mark 375, and an anchor assay mark for Birmingham. There are two further impressed marks, likely a date letter and a maker’s mark cartouche, which are not legible as names.
