A set of six UK decimal proof coins issued in 1975. The collection comprises denominations of 50 New Pence, 10 New Pence, 5 New Pence, 2 New Pence, 1 New Penny, and 1/2 New Penny. The three larger denominations are struck in cupro-nickel, while the three smaller denominations are struck in bronze. The coins feature reverse motifs by Christopher Ironside, including Britannia, a lion passant guardant, a crowned thistle, the Prince of Wales’s feathers, a crowned portcullis, and St Edward’s crown. The reverses are inscribed with NEW PENCE or NEW PENNY. The coins are presented in a clear plastic display case with a green velvet-effect insert, which incorporates a small rectangular bronzed? plaque featuring a coat of arms. The set is housed within its original green cardboard outer sleeve, bearing gold-toned lettering reading COINAGE of GREAT BRITAIN + NORTHERN IRELAND 1975.
