A French? Louis XVI style mantel clock of lyre form, featuring gilt-metal effect mounts and bronzed figures upon a white marble base. The central lyre-shaped section houses a twin-train mechanical movement and is flanked by two bronzed infant satyr figures holding a cast floral garland draped across the dial. The piece is surmounted by a white porcelain? urn finial with gilt-metal effect detailing. The white enamel dial is set with Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic five-minute intervals, featuring pierced and decorated gilt hands and two winding apertures. The clock is supported by a stepped white marble plinth over a gilt-metal effect base decorated with a neoclassical trophy of a quiver and torch, terminating in scroll-and-claw feet. The dial is printed at the six o’clock position with the word PARIS.
