A contemporary? glazed ceramic cookie jar modelled as a seated Scottish Terrier. The vessel is finished in a high-gloss black glaze with a textured surface representing the animal’s coat. The dog is depicted wearing a red and white tartan patterned collar and has a detachable head which functions as a lid, revealing a hollow interior finished in a creamy white glaze. The chest is decorated with an applied circular gold-toned medallion featuring an embossed, stylized capital letter ‘M’. The facial features, including the ears and eyes, are highlighted with contrasting tan glazes. The monogram on the medallion is not legible as a manufacturer’s name.
