An 18th century? Portuguese? Baroque style ewer and basin set. The lidded ewer is constructed from white metal? and features a pedestal foot, a fluted urn-shaped body, and a scrolling handle with a decorative thumbpiece. The hinged, domed lid is stamped to the underside rim with small marks that are not legible. The large, deep-walled oval basin is formed from copper? and fitted with twin fixed loop handles. The interior rim of the basin bears worn impressed characters reading ’00’ or ‘CC’. Both pieces exhibit an aged, dark patina.
