A matte porcelain? study of a pair of herons or egrets depicted in a courtship display with entwined necks. The birds are naturalistically modelled and hand-painted in shades of grey, white, and soft blue, with ochre highlights to the long beaks and legs. The figures are set upon a textured, rocky integral base with small tufts of green foliage, and the entire sculpture is mounted on a stepped, circular polished wooden plinth. The porcelain base, near the birds’ legs, features an incised signature reading ‘G. Armani’.
